21,8 cm diam each
Provenance: Naples, Villa della Floridiana, Museo Duca di Martina, Placido de Sangro (1829-1891) collection.
inv. nn. 4671, 4678, 4680.
Each of the dishes with a circular medallion with a basket of flowers to the centre of the well, surrounded by other four cartouches on a ground of leaves, two larger with again a basket of flowers, two smaller with a landscape with mountains, a pavilion and a figure.
The decoration of these dishes show analogies with a Chinese bowl originally in the collection of Augustus the Strong (1670-1733) and now in the Porzellansammlung in Dresden, inventoried in 1727-28 (H. Espir, European Decoration on Oriental Porcelain 1700-1830, London 2005, p. 62, fig. 16; the author publishes also a cup and saucer similarly overdecorated in Holland toward 1760-1770: p. 46, fig. 2).
A similar dish is in Wallington, Northumberland (inv. n. NT 581740).
