The decoration – painted in the wucai palette, with underglaze blue and
overglaze black, red, green, yellow and aubergine enamels – consists to the
exterior of two phoenixes flying amidst lotus flowers.

The six-character hall mark Zhong you mei yu ya zhi (“elegantly made like
beautiful jade possessed of loyalty”) appears on early Kangxi vessels.
