A PAIR OF GILT POWDER-BLUE GROUND AND ‘FAMILLE VERTE’ BOWLS

Standing on a circular foot, the bowls have an undulating wall decorated to the exterior with eight panels alternating groups of object on a blue ground to ‘birds and flowers’ compositions, a pheasant to the centre of the interior, the internal rim with eight ruyi’s heads on a geometric ground.

Both the bowls have the black inscription “N°: 58 +” referring to the inventory of the collection of Augustus the Strong (1670-1733), who owned also another similar piece, now in the Porzellansammlung in Dresden (inv. PO 3278).
