The lower globular section with butterflies flying around baskets filled with flowers, a symbol of abundance; the mid zone with some of the ‘Hundred Antiquities’ (bogu); the upper globular section and the neck with floral scrolls.
The Duca di Martina Museum in Villa La Floridiana in Naples houses a wonderful collection of Chinese Art.
Created by Placido de Sangro (1829-1891) in the second half of the nineteenth century, it is certainly one of the most important in Italy and Europe, with outstanding examples of porcelain, cloisonné, bronzes and carvings, dating from Yuan to Qing dynasties.
