A ‘FAMILLE VERTE’ MOULDED TUREEN AND COVER

The container and the domed cover moulded in a series of panels each of them with a floral composition, two shaped handles to the sides of the tureen, the cover with a bud shaped finial, the decoration painted in the bright enamels of the ‘Famille Verte’ palette.
The Duca di Martina Museum in Villa La Floridiana in Naples houses a wonderful collection of Chinese Art.
Created by Placido de Sangro (1829-1891) in the second half of the nineteenth century, it is certainly one of the most important in Italy and Europe, with outstanding examples of porcelain, cloisonné, bronzes and carvings, dating from Yuan to Qing dynasties.
