A ‘FAMILLE VERTE’ MOULDED BOX AND COVER

The compressed globular body moulded with leaf shaped panels, each of them decorated with a flower, the flat domed cover with a stylized flower head, the interior of the cover with a scene of two lovers.
The Duca di Martina Museum in Villa La Floridiana in Naples houses a wonderful collection of Chinese Art.
Created by Placido de Sangro (1829-1891) in the second half of the nineteenth century, it is certainly one of the most important in Italy and Europe, with outstanding examples of porcelain, cloisonné, bronzes and carvings, dating from Yuan to Qing dynasties.
