The two men depicted on this brush pot are dealing with one of the pastimes preferred by the literati class, painting or the practise of calligraphy.
The Duca di Martina Museum in Villa La Floridiana in Naples houses a wonderful collection of Chinese Art.
Created by Placido de Sangro (1829-1891) in the second half of the nineteenth century, it is certainly one of the most important in Italy and Europe, with outstanding examples of porcelain, cloisonné, bronzes and carvings, dating from Yuan to Qing dynasties.
