The literary themes had a greater diffusion as decoration on porcelain during the late Ming-early Qing period and the Kangxi reign, but they continued to be used also during the Yongzheng and Qianlong period, as exemplified by this basin which presents a scene with four men fighting while another figure is looking at them, probably inspired by the “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” (Sanguo yanyi).
