Small cloisonné dishes like this, with a small container in the centre of the bottom used to hold an incense stick, were very popular at court during the Qianlong period. In this example, the globular vase shows a floral decoration that has different characteristics respect to the floral meanders on the rest of the surface: perhaps it originally was associated to another dish.
