Made of two symmetrical sections, the whole external surface decorated in light and dark green, white, pink, yellow, red and blue enamels on a turquoise ground, the sides with lotus sprays bordered by a band of ruyi heads, the upper circular wells with stylized lotus flowers inside four reserves shaped as ruyi head and surrounded by lotus scrolls, the centre of the cover with a gilt metal flower topped by a carnelian round finial, to the centre of the lower side a round metal plaque, probably a later addiction, with the yin-yang symbol.
