The shape and the decoration of this vase correspond to the style of the porcelain in the Hatcher Cargo.
A very similar jar was introduced by the Dutch artist Willem Kalf (1619-1693) in one of his most famous still-life dated to 1669 and now preserved in the Indianapolis Museum of Art (inv. n. 45.9); the artist used the same vase also in another still-life now in the Musée du Louvre in Paris (inv. RF796).
