A ‘BLUE AND WHITE’ BASIN

Standing on a low circular foot, the rounded walls rising to a flat inclined rim with barbed profile, the centre of the interior with a round medallion with a taihu rock and flowered branches, the wall and the rim with six lobed cartouches against a geometrical ground, each of them showing a floral composition alternating to a group of objects from the ‘Hundred Antiquities’ (bogu), the external surface with sprays of flowers, ruyi’s heads and vertical lines.
The museum owns also another very similar basin (inv. n. 4236).
