This kind of cup, with a shape inspired by late Ming rhinoceros horn libation cup, was exported in great number to Europe during the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century, well represented in the collection ofAugustus the Strong (1670-1733) in Dresden which was inventoried in 1721 (E. Ströber, «La maladie de porcelaine». East Asian Porcelain from the Collection of Augustus the Strong, Leipzig 2001, n. 50) and in the British Royal Collection (J. Ayers, Chinese and Japanese Works of Art in the Collection of Her Majesty The Queen, 2 voll. London 2016, I, nn. 97-106).
